About The Artist
Ian David Spencer
Hello, my name is Ian David Spencer, an artist working in the medias of photographic and digital processes. I have been working with digital media since 2011 when I started my art career.
My practice explores the space between the known and the unknowable, transcending the boundaries of perceived reality. Inspired by nature and natural forms, cosmology, spirituality and the paranormal, I create visionary works that invite viewers into realms beyond the physical - into places shaped by intuition, energy and inner experience.
Working experimentally and intuitively, my process is guided by feeling rather than formula. Through layered compositions, rich colour, texture and depth, I construct distorted yet immersive environments that reflect both the vastness of nature and the universe and the intricasies of the subconscious. Each piece becomes a portal - an exploration of what may lie beyond our current understanding of reality.
My work sits within a contemporary, esoteric and subtly bohemian aesthetic, drawing on the surreal and psychedelic to evoke a sense of mystery and wonder. I aim to create not only visual impact but emotional resonance - offering moments of stillness, curiosity and introspection. At its core, my art is both a personal and shared journey. It is a means of grounding and release, while also serving as an invitation for the viewer to question, to feel and to connect with something greater than the visible world. Through this, I hope to inspire a sense of awe, expansion and possibility. Each piece becomes a space where energy flows freely, inviting the viewer into a world that is both deeply personal and expansively universal.
I live in beautiful Cornwall, UK, where I am never far away from stunning locations that help to inspire my work.
