Every so often, I surprise even myself. I never have any idea or premonition of how a new piece will reveal itself. In one moment, it looks as if it is heading in the direction of something light and magical, the next it turns towards something darker or more psychedelic. As each imaginative layer or texture is applied to my work, it somehow transmutes the work into something new and different - the work is reimagined, transformed and veers off course from what I thought it would become. Sometimes my creativity "runs out" and I hit a blank. Then I will revisit it and a surprise element catapults it into something totally different to what it was before I left it. Such is the story behind this piece which is nearing completion I think. And this, I think, is one of the most bizarre and surreal pieces I have ever created. In this work, I am getting a multi-dimensional feel, something very spiritual, very powerful and perhaps even something very esoteric? Yes, many themes are in this mix - nature, the cosmos, spirituality, psychedelics. Stay tuned.....
